In times of uncertainty and change, where we turn for guidance?
So many people are feeling a call to reconnect with something older, deeper, wiser than today’s world can offer us.
Ten Thousand Grandmothers is a shift in perspective that invites us to step beyond the urgency of the present moment and reconnect with the vast continuum of life that flows through us.
Through guided meditation and shared reflection, we will journey to meet the presence of our ancestors of lineage, land, and blood — the generations whose resilience, courage, creativity and care shaped the path we walk today.
In listening to them, we may rediscover our own place in the unfolding story of the Earth.
Are you longing to connect more deeply to your roots, to the calling in your bones that modern life has trained you to block out?
Join us in circle and see what arises. You will be held in community in a group limited to 10 spaces. If you have joined this workshop with us before, we invite you to return to deeper your ancestral connection practice. We will be using different exercises from the last time so you may gain some new insights.

In this workshop, you will be led on a magical journey as we connect with grandmothers (and perhaps grandfathers) long passed, hearing the whispers of our ancestors and reminding us of who we are. If connecting to your blood lineage is not calling you, you can follow the threads of lineage, land, or spirit, perhaps connecting to the wider ancestral field.
Perhaps, these souls will offer us some wisdom for the precarious and challenging times we find ourselves living in.
You can expect: guided meditation, journalling, discussion. Workshops are not recorded and are limited to 10 participants to protect a sense of sharing, closeness, and confidentiality.
More about Deep Time:
We parcel out our moments in smaller and smaller increments of time – deadlines, notifications, breaking news. The result? We feel exhausted; too depleted to tune into optimism and hope for the future, or to know what’s ours to do.
Yet we are capable of thinking, and feeling, across centuries.
Deep Time is the practice of stepping into a much larger perspective: sensing our lives within the long arc of generations past and generations yet to come. When we reconnect with this wider timeline, something shifts. Our problems change scale. Our resilience deepens. Our imagination expands.
As we take part in what Joanna Macy calls The Great Turning — the shift toward a life-sustaining society — we are invited to become good ancestors for future generatiomns.
But to do that, we must also remember and connect to the ancestors who shaped us.
This workshop offers an experiential introduction to Deep Time through ancestral connection. It is particularly suited to those already somewhat familiar with The Work That Reconnects who wish to explore this aspect more deeply.
"This workshop invited a profound dive into deep time providing a portal to connect with ancestral wisdom. Gwyneth and Shayontoni have a rare talent for creating safe sacred circles within which whatever needs to arise, arises. I love working with them and always emerge refreshed and enlightened. This workshop provided just what I needed in a wonderfully creative and accessible way." Lynn, workshop participant, 2024.
Joanna Macy’s words on Deep Time:
“As we take part in the Great Turning to a life-sustaining society, we learn to act like ancestors of future generations. We attune to longer ecological rhythms and nourish a strong felt connection with past and future beings. For us as agents of change, this isn’t easy, because to intervene in the Industrial Growth Society, we can’t avoid falling into its tempo. We race to find and pull the levers before it is too late to save this forest or stop that weapons program. Nonetheless, we can learn again to drink at deeper wells.
Deep Time work has arisen for that express purpose: to refresh our spirits and inform our minds by experiencing our present lives within larger contexts of time. This work brings a sense of relief and lasting resilience, as expressed in Molly [Brown]’s poem:
Ancient Ones,
residing in this forest,
speak to me.
Fill me with your wildness,
your wisdom,
your abiding Now.
Let me see all the projects and tasks
that consume my days
in the vast perspective of your time.
Let me see them as at one with
the forming of a seed cone,
the pushing out of leaf and stem
the chatter of grey squirrel
the flight of chickadee
the flow of water in the creek:
All taking place within the embrace of Life;
All held in love.”

About BANDURI + the facilitators:
Gwyneth Jones is a facilitator and coach navigating the place where Deep Adaptation, climate change, psychology and earth-based spirituality meet. She has recently returned to her homeland of North Wales after heeding the call of the land. Gwyneth teaches, writes, and works in climate communications.
Shayontoni Rhea Ghosh is a multi-disciplinary artiste and a facilitator of healing space. She lives and works in Hyderabad, India; and is inspired by water, light, clouds and dogs. She approaches gnosis as a dedicated and earnest student, and is driven by the wish to build an accessible infrastructure for community care.
Shayontoni and Gwyneth met on the Spiral Journey - a Facilitator Development Program for the Work That Reconnects, where they were both learning to facilitate spaces for people to process their grief and rage for our world. After a happy year of co-facilitating, they found out that they share a birthday. Despite having never met in person, the two have developed a strong bond and have been honoured to hold space for several beautiful groups of humans from across the globe.
After facilitating workshops and courses around the Work that Reconnects together over the last three years, we have created Banduri, a partnership whose mission is to create spaces of connection and healing and provide quality resources for navigating the Great Turning. We support people in tapping into their wisdom and resilience, connecting with their full selves, and living authentically to thrive as much as possible in the great unravelling. We bring people together to break the spell that capitalism has cast on us and to reimagine a different world together. We aim to promote healing, connection, and decolonization to create a world in which all life is created equal, and we live in alignment with the earth, ourselves, and each other.
What people have said about Shayontoni and Gwyneth’s workshops:
“I truly love the way Shayontoni and Gwyneth bring themselves into the circle and how they trust the wisdom of the circle to be the wise teacher. There is a real sense of mutual respect and honouring of each person's contribution.”
“This class was really important for me to touch into the feelings that I have been having about climate change (and the systemic problems that have caused it). It was so important to be able to get to hear others and to share with others my thoughts and feelings. I feel much more sane now and have more tools to help myself function in this world.”
