Who are you, once the old ideas that no longer fit or serve you are stripped away? A space to process what has been and open up to the new.

As the harshest winter is past, and the ice begins to thin and melt, life receives its inspiration and stirs, ‘the quickening’. What old forms, stories and habits have we shed and burnt over the past winter? How has the world changed, and who do we need to become to meet those changes? What long dormant seeds lie within us, to be touched by the light and awakened? What values, ideas and purposes might animate and enthuse us over the year to come? Who might we become, what new forms might we grow into if we make deeply energising and inspired choices now?
Imbolc was traditionally a Celtic celebration of the lengthening days and the very earliest signs of spring. The festival of Candelmass was later adapted from the tradition; both of which involve the lighting of candles to represent the return of warmth and make use of fire for purification and cleansing. One possible meaning of “imbolc” is connected to imbolg, or “in the belly” - it is the promise and anticipation of new life, renewal, the earth reawakening after its winter slumber.
Join us to welcome the returning light, as we let go of the past, clear out the old, and make space for new beginnings. Drawing on inspiration from the cycle of the Work That Reconnects, we will join together to begin dreaming and germinating the seeds of new.
What have you appreciated in the last year? What are you happy to shed?
What old stories and pain have you been carrying that might melt away now?
What new seeds might you plant in the coming months? How will you make space for new ideas and inspiration?
Who are you, once the old ideas that no longer fit or serve you are stripped away? How might you go forward, embodying your true self more fully?
The intense love affair between the sun and the earth, between light and life, is a constant drama of change and response, of expansion and contraction. Deep Adaptation coach Matthew Painton and I are offering a series of 8 workshops over the year, which are designed to calibrate and align inner-being with outward expression.
More than ever the world is changing, and this constant change can seem relentless, unsettling and unwelcome. By more closely observing and celebrating the tremendous energy of the changing seasons, we can better allow change to flow through us and around us, and meet it with constant creativity, renewal and purpose.
The modern disconnect with nature is apparent all around us. One way that this shows up is as a misalignment with the seasons. We are constrained to try and be the same all year round, and especially in winter this can leave us disaffected and depleted. Modernity requires constant growth and progress, but this linear path is unsustainable, and beginning to unravel all around us.
The wheel of the year is a profound and embodied teaching about cyclical time, about expansion, contraction and rebirth, about constant flux and relentless change. By coming into deeper alignment with the seasons over the course of a year, we can deeply resource ourselves for the dark winter to come, and find new ways to embrace and affect change.
Drawing on ancient wisdom adapted for modern sensibilities, and the tremendous power of the Work that Reconnects these workshops will be offered throughout the year. The format will be the same, but the focus and energy will be entirely different each time, as appropriate to the time of year. You can come to one or two, but each workshop offers new tools and insights to help you live life life in greater connection to the seasons.
This Imbolc workshop will take place over a half-day (4 hours) and is offered on a sliding scale from 30 to 60 GBP. Buy your ticket here.
